Shortcut

A nightclub with a very Buddha bar vibe, Stellar transforms into a dim sum house during lunch hours and doles out great steamy wonders at excellent pricing.

Dim Sum Unlimited

Stellar at The Ashok isn’t usually the destination of choice for lunch, but they have a killer deal {INR 1,100 plus taxes for unlimited dim sums} which will probably change your mind. For prices that will make you go as mushy as a well-steamed dumpling, you can choose from an unlimited dim sum lunch, or one with a fixed serving of three kinds of sushi, along with a mocktail, a main and a dessert thrown in for good effect.

Between sips of fragrant jasmine tea, immediate favourites emerged—we started with the Crystal Prawns Dumpling, which were perfectly juicy, and the Steamed Sea Crab, that retained the subtle flavours of the crab meat beautifully. Both worked very well with the accompanying black bean sauce.

The Chicken Water Chestnuts Chives dumpling came a close second, marrying tender chicken with the crunch of the water chestnuts. The veggie stars included a gorgeously green Spinach Skin with shimizi and cheddar, and a very pretty in pink beetroot skin that was packed with leeks and coriander.

There’s More…

Of course, there was sushi to follow too – and we enjoyed well-crafted California rolls, and a rather unusual Cucumber and Plum Paste Roll.

If you still have space for a main, you could choose from the Nasi Goreng or a classic Pad Thai.
We ended the meal on a few sweet notes – of which our saccharine vote went to their Tiramisu- soaked with the good stuff, and hitting all the right notes of coffee and cocoa.

What Didn’t Impress Us Much

Our mocktails were a bit too sugary; we missed being able to taste the tart of the fruit in our Kiwi and Kokum coolers.

So, We’re Saying

Gorge on the superb dim sums, sample the sushi a bit, skip mains and end on a delicious note.
