There’s cotton, and then there’s Supima cotton. But if you’ve been living under a rock and have no clue what it is, no problem! A particular kind of cotton, that has extra long staples, Supima cotton makes up just about 1% of the cotton grown and made into fabric. Softer, more durable and tougher than your usual cotton, you’ll understand why the simplest t-shirt, made from Supima is more expensive. Uniqlo has dominated thus far with their collection, and I still go to them (and order online!) but if you want a change from that, here are other brands that do Supima cotton well too. Invest away.

CotLino

This brand is an all round winner. Eco-friendly, zero-waste and with V and round-neck option, CotLino is a proper favourite. The Supima cotton tees are in solid colours. Think grey, black, yellow, navy and of course, white. What is also fantastic is that they have sizes going up to 2XL. But what’s even better? Read more here.

March Tee

A top favourite in India (guys, #VocalForLocal forever!), March Tee. These folks keep it simple, and effective, starting with only t-shirts at first, but now offering pajamas, loungewear and even Supima towels. But they have stuck to solid colours, that is now officially their trademark. Pick from colours such as Forest Green, Mineral Grey, Pure White and Classic Black. Ladies, they have unisex t-shirts too - the mint green one is a favourite. Plus, a women’s section with colours ranging from salmon pink, mustard and a dull grey.  Prices start at INR 1,500, we've already forgotten our old bulky cotton tops/tees. Their sizes go up to 2XL which is 40-42 for women and 3XL for men, which is size 48.

Postfold

PostFold

Postfold is a go-to for formal but not over the top office wear. More importantly though, they have casual chic lounge wear that includes Supima cotton tees. Especially for men. They have a Supima Shop for men and women, which makes life easier if you know exactly what you want. Pick from t-shirts, pajamas and even bomber quilted jackets (ladies, the lilac one is oh-so-loveerly!). Colours are definitely muted, ranging from mauve, grey and black to ebony, teal and green. And we’re up for that. The sweatshirts are also worth checking out for something different and durable.

House Of Rare

House Of Rare has options for Supima tees, and these folks add some jazz in the form of graphic prints, regular prints and more. But hey, you want solids, they have that too. Green, maroon, pink, black are the colours you can expect to find in the plain department. They also have a few dot-art graphic prints which are funky, and if you don't mind a bit of glitter on your t-shirt, lads, this one is for you! Prices start at INR 1,199 upwards.

Ladies, you’ll have to sit this out for now.

Creatures Of Habit

They get their basics right, and we love it. Clearly, we all are, and thus love, Creatures Of Habit! Focusing on the fuss-free, everyday basics for both men and women, tees here are mostly grey, black, white, dark blue, green, brown, and dark red. With scoop neck, crew neck, sleeveless tops, and pocket dresses all on offer, you will get so used to this brand, you’ll be ordering it all! Read more about Creatures Of Habit here. But, don't expect style; this is basic but good. Prices are INR 1,500 upwards.

There are crew-neck t-shirts, collared ones, classic styles and light weight ones too for men. Ladies, what you make up for in colour options, you lose in style - only the round neck ones for you!
