Anita Dongre Grassroot, a label that marries design with a social conscience, is now out with its Spring/Summer collection for 2016. They work with NGOs like Mijwan, SEWA, and Khamir in Kutch, and even individual artisans with specific skills {like dyeing, for instance}.
The spring/summer line features beautiful Indian techniques such as kantha, tie & dye, mirror work, chikankari, block printing, phulkari, Bhujodi, Ahir embroidery, and ikat. They’ve made use of light summery fabrics like muslin, khadi, and hand-spun cotton, all natural dyes, and an earthy colour palette {with lots of greys, ecrus, peaches, and of course, whites}, all of which we think work perfectly for the scorching summers soon to cross our paths.
The fit of the clothes are comfortable and fuss-free, just the way summer clothing should be. Our eyes are set on the long ikat jackets and the linen trousers and tunics.
