What Makes It Awesome

Let’s deem the year 2020, the year of Cloud Kitchens, a concept we probably never heard of before this time and now we’re thankful these kitchens exist. By definition, every ‘delivery only’ service is a cloud kitchen so it’s actually nothing new but the mushrooming of these services has made the term popular and the demand has actualized the dreams of so many people looking to enter the food space. Launched by mother-daughter duo Vidhi and Sonal Taneja, Tiella translates to an authentic dish served in Southern Italy and the menu resonates with that sentiment, comfort food with fresh ingredients. What I liked about the menu was, how well rounded it is and covers an expanse like Europe in a selection of dishes, a mix of Italy and the Mediterranean region.

Located in Shahpur Jat, the cloud kitchen is operational 7 days a week, 12 pm to 12 am. The menu has a good mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes and I was informed that the signatures include, Green Pea & Asparagus burger, Mushroom risotto, Confit Chicken Leg, Belgian Pork Belly and a Choco Lava Cake to end the meal with. I chose dishes that I felt sound simple but are very telling of a good kitchen. A Mezze Platter comes off as simple but because it’s a smattering of several mini dishes, it’s a good way to try a new place and I must say, the Tiella Mezze Platter was delicious, each dip was well made and the packaging allowed for every component to reach us safe and fresh. For starters, I would recommend, the Kurdish Mutton Kebab, very much like a seekh but lightly spiced, more aromatic than pungent, just how I like it. The BBQ Mushrooms are great for vegetarians, the sauce seems house made with the right balance of sweet, salty and spicy or go old school with the Chilli Cheese Bites. The staples allow every order to have standard favourites like Chicken Wings, Chicken Popcorn and Shashlik. If you’re a salad person, then this is the season for the Melon Feta Salad, the dressing is spectacular, the fruit is fresh and the cheese is good too. Though my next order is likely to include the Potato Bacon Salad, a staple that always satisfies. Between the Pizzas, Sandwiches and Burgers, their Pollo Pizza is a signature but I preferred the option making my own pizza, the choice to customize is always a good idea. They also have gourmet pizzas like Truffle and Salmon. I skipped the burgers and chose the Classic Tuna Sandwich, very few kitchens make it and those who do don’t make it as good as the one at Tiella. You can also customize your sandwich with a choice of breads and fillings. If you’re up for Pasta and Risotto, they have those too but we got smitten by the main course dishes!

The Mains here are a game changer, the menu is huge. From a light and summery Caponata to Vegetable Stew and Meatballs and Rice, they it all. I was keener on the Mediterranean dishes, the Dajaj Mashwi, half a chicken marinated in Lebanese spices, roasted to perfection and served with a berry Pilaf, I would be ordering this again. Speaking of the Mediterranean, the Lamb Ghoulash is a dish rarely seen on delivery menus, they serve it with saffron rice and its pure comfort food. For an entirely gourmet experience, I would suggest the following – Chilean Sea Bass, Jambalaya and the Cheesecake. Tiella is an ambitious project which actually delivers a culinary journey that is promised when you see the menu, it’s restaurant food at home!
