Connaught Place has been consistently surprising us with a new restaurant on every corner every second day, but this time, it’s outdone itself.
The Colonnade is an enclosed area with a pretty small entry {next to H&M} which gives way to a massive two-floored space with cobblestones, white walls and a bagful of restaurants.
Much like the name says, the set-up is pretty colonial, very CP; the corridors bear enlarged black and white photographs of central Delhi back in the day. Here’s the line-up.
It’s terribly hard to get sick of Cafe Delhi Heights especially when their Juicy Lucy remains as good as it was on day one.
This new outlet keeps in tune with its predecessors in terms of interiors but they’ve got a new bakery and breakfast menu with plenty of boozy options. We can’t wait to dig our teeths into the Bailey’s Irish Cream Creme Brulee and the Moscow Hot Chocolate {it’s got vanilla and Amaretto liqueur}.
We can easily see this becoming our next weekday evening hangout. Beers from across the world {the latest being Hobgoblin} + beer battered onion rings + Carnivorous Treat pizza. Need we say more?
Perhaps the restaurant that popularised meal bowls in the capital, Mamagoto is going strong with their 22 Ingredient Chicken Soup, noodle bowls, bacon-wrapped prawns and yes, Mama’s Chocolate Cake.
They’ve recently added some new things to their menu included a soft crab in Mama’s sauce, Sesame Prawn Balls, Rice Paper Rolls with chilli basil and LBB favourite, Coconut Panko Banana with caramel sauce.
Fat Lulu’s does only pizza and does it pretty damn well. If you find yourself a little lost, go for the TriBeCa- a sinful combination of honey smoked ham, bacon, mushrooms, basil pesto and mozzarella. Yum.
There’s a sun-dried tomato garlic bread which is pretty stellar too.
They’ve got over 25 varieties of momo, including the usual chicken, paneer, vegetable, prawn along with momo au gratin and chocolate momo. Bookmark it for a quick bite on the go.
Other restaurants include Pita Pit, Wanchai by Kylin, Punjabi By Nature Express, Krispy Kreme, Habibi, Burger King, Sweet Cakes, Keventers and a promising looking bar called The Permit Room by Raasta.
