What Makes It Awesome

If you haven't discovered the joy of thrift shopping, now is the time. The Local Thrift is an Instagram store — take the cue. Founded by Namrata, a designer & illustrator, this store hosts offline garage sales and online sales too. It all started when Namrata Marie Kondo-ed her closet and decided to sell her preloved beauties on Instagram. Soon, most of them found a warm home and thus floated The Local Thrift (TLT).

One look at their Instagram page and we're low-key drooling on their dresses and perhaps, we're even bogged down that some are sold out. The store has eight conscious shoppers who carefully curate the selection — from personal items and collection through garage sales to shopping off vendors and users, the store picks from a wide range of shoppers. We love the fact that they've got not just clothes but accessories and perfumes too. Since most products fall between INR 100-1,500, shopping from TLT is not only sustainable but also affordable.

As firm believers of upcycling and recycling, TLT is building a solid community of conscious shoppers. If you're someone who cares about the environment but cannot compromise on style, you know where to look. At their garage sales, you'll find them accepting clothes and products from their followers and fellow shoppers. The fact that they take their community seriously shows in what they do too — from having a conversation on sustainability to organising homemade food (like falafels, hummus, theplas, garlic bread — indulging in an almost vegan meal) during the sales — TLT is making a difference and how! So, the next time you want to go shopping, head over to their Instagram page instead and order what you love.
