Hanita Bhambri at The Piano Man Jazz Club

Hanita Bhambri

What's Happening

Hanita was a shy kid, who would crawl under a bench or a swing and spend all her time writing poetry. With time her expression evolved from poetry to songwriting, putting a melody to her words came naturally.

Often, her songs are like poetry wrapped in music. The self-taught singer went on to pull a clean sweep at singing competitions across the country during her time at College of Business Studies. While pursuing her masters in brand management at MICA, Hanita had hopes of connecting with people on an emotional level through her stories. Influenced by Damien Rice and Ben Howard, this talented musician’s songs are often melancholic reflections about love and loneliness, revolving around her personal experiences. Her music catches the nature of sadness and makes it more beautiful than it appears. It’s inviting and off-putting at the same time - it comforts you as much as it brings you down.

Touted by Rolling Stone Magazine as the “angsty-soulful pop artist to look out for”, she was mentioned in their list of Best Singles of 2018. She was also in the list of Best Debuts 2018 by A Humming Heart. She successfully proved herself on the global stage, as the only woman in the competition, by winning Project Aloft Star amongst 5 countries and released a single globally with Universal Music in Feb 2019, garnering a Million plus views. Described by Vogue India as one of the 10 female musicians to know in 2019, the ISC Semifinalist has crafted a remarkable debut EP produced by Miti Adhikari which will be out on May 24, 2019.
