Stumbling Upon the Space
Next time you’re heading to the buzzing HKV, stop at the Deer Park {it comes on your right before you dive into the parking lot}. The Project at The Park Balluchi may just woo you enough into staying outside the village {which we could all do with a little more}. With its mostly glass exteriors, it looks almost like a greenhouse. Add to that the lush greenery and the occasional deer and peacock roaming outside, and you have yourself the perfect spot for a bout of al fresco dining.
Deciding Drinks
The inside matches the outside: Metallic cut-outs of deer embellish the wooden interiors. A mix of natural wooden chairs and coloured metal ones give it a classy, yet vibrant look. Start with a signature cocktail {the Orange and Celery Margarita is perfect to beat the heat} or a glass of sangria, and enjoy the scenery. If you’re looking for something else, we recommend their classic Daiquiri or delectable Old Fashioned. Honestly, priced between INR 225 to INR 350, these huge cocktails are some of the best value for money drinks we’ve had in the Hauz Khas area.
Food Frenzy
If food is on your mind, get it on your plate! The al-fresco space at The Project is very conducive for drinks and bar snacks. They have a large selection of Indian kebabs, including Tandoori Atlantic Salmon, Soya Tikka, and a platter comprising an assortment of everything. For those looking for a lesser masala-laden experience, there’s nachos, falafel, nuggets and juicy hand-spun wings, amongst a whole sea of starters. Personally, we loved the decadent Baked Stuffed Mushrooms and juicy Chelo Kebabs.
Main course comprises pastas, risottos, wood-fired pizzas, burgers and many Indian delights such as Hyderabadi Handi, Roghan Josh and more. The most exciting part of their menu though, is the little section on dessert pizzas – two of our favourite things put together! The Nutella Banana Pizza is currently their hottest selling one.
What We Thought
We’ve found The Project is a great spot to meet friends. Whether you want to just enjoy the weather {on that rare day!}, are looking for a beautiful place for that hot date, or just want to prepare yourself before diving into the chaotic mess of HKV, The Project is definitely worth a visit.
