Based on a poem called ‘Shesher Kobita’by Rabindranath Tagore, this heartwarming play begins with a lilting dance in colourful, psychedelic lights. The music reaches a crescendo, and we meet our protagonist—the rich and charming Oxford-educated barrister, Amit Roy.
With lyrical dialogues, the play is about the defining moment in one’s relationship. The romantic play is laced, at appropriate points, with several verses by John Donne, Shakespeare, Tagore and other literary legends as well as interspersed with several song and dance sequences.
In a poignant scene, Yogomaya (Sharmila Mitra) rightly points out to Amit that love is not excitement or breathlessness; rather itself is what remains when being in love has burned away.
