The Wishing Chair Opens in Gurgaon

Ten Second Takeaway

The Wishing Chair opened its doors to Gurgaon’s populace this past Saturday and brought its unique brand of Enid Blyton-esque whimsy to brighten up the usually desolate basement of South Point Mall.

What to Expect

Their décor is charming, as per usual - complete with miniature faux-herbariums, luminescent mason jars, a vintage wireless and type writer, a wall installation made entirely out of teapots, and a whole wall of artificial flower arrangements made entirely out of silk. {They also have a canopied bed in one corner of the store – dream bedroom, perhaps?}

What’s New

The store space is larger, so they’ve promised to keep us in a regular supply of pop up shops and crafternoons. The Gurgaon store offers an extended repertoire, adding to their signature collection of home-décor pieces, upholstery, furniture and prints, all of which embody The Wishing Chair aesthetic we’ve all come to know and love. That’s not all; they’re setting up a delightful little in-house bakery to feed Gurgaon’s starving faithful. They’ve also curated a wonderful collection of books, selecting from Penguin Random House’s mammoth catalogue; not your usual bookstore fare, but instead, arts and crafts books, paper engineered books and leather bound classics. Look out for their Penguin Threads Edition of Austen’s Emma, and an Anniversary Edition of Madeline, complete with a pop-up Paris.
