What Is It?

The Sufi Route is hosting an afternoon of sufi melodies, folk music and poetry on Nov 18. This special “concert for peace” will bring the most soulful voices from the industry at one platform and we’d be lying if we said we said we weren’t chuffed to bits about seeing A.R. Rahman live.

The performances have been planned with the intention of bringing the purest form of Sufi music to the forefront. You’ll hear Mukhtiar Ali, Hans Raj Hans {hey, 80s nostalgia}, Dhruv Sangari, Nooran Sisters and NEFES {Turkish music, whoa!}. The idea is to champion the cause of peace and coexistence and there’s literally nothing in this world that can bring communities together like music can.

Who Is It For?

Dig the contagious energy and community feeling that comes with attending a live gig? Or someone who’s warmed up to Sufi music off late? Or a pure A R Rahman fan? It’s for all of you.

Why Should I Go For It?

The diversity of music this concert is bringing is enough of a reason if you ask us. And, of course, A R Rahman.

We’re going to sing along to Rahman’s hits and go down the memory lane with Hans Raj Hans’ Punjabi pop. Oh, and NEFES’ has band members from Turkey, Finland and New Zealand and makes Turkish music. Now this seems intriguing too.

The Jalandhar-based Nooran Sisters {of the Coke Studio and When Harry Met Sejal fame} will bring pure Sufi tunes while Mukhtiar Ali will bring rustic folk songs from Bikaner. Dhruv Sangari will add to the line-up with a touch of Hindustani Classical.

With all these artists, you can expect nothing but magic. Add to all this, the November weather and the thought of being around Qutub Minar… Can you think of a better way to spend your Saturday? We sure can’t.
