Shortcut

This blue-coloured Alpine cottage is perched on one of Mukteshwar’s most scenic spots. A 700-metre walk from the Dhanachuli-Mukteshwar highway, it promises an uninterrupted view of the Nanda Devi (India’s second highest peak). The house can take up to six people in two bedrooms for INR 2k per head.

Great For

Quiet time, mountain views, photography, nature.

What Makes It Awesome?

The sparse landscape that surrounds this chalet, for one. The sweet caretaker who manages all the meals and keeps the property spic and span. And, of course, the cosy nooks with French windows and the wooden sloping roofs remind you of a retirement home from a picture book. Read a novel in the attic or gaze at the hills from the balcony for hours… You can kick back in the real sense at this cubbyhole. If you’re hoping to get some writing or work done, the WiFi and study desk won’t fail you.

Pro-Tip

The sunrise at the Nanda Devi peak is spectacular. If you’re into photography, or just miss experiencing natural beauty because of #citylife, wake up early and soak in the beauty of the sun leaving the mountains aglow.
