What Is It?

In an attempt to unite the lovers of poetry and promote the art among youngsters, Poets’ Collective in collaboration with The Walled City Cafe & Lounge is organising a poetry and open mic night called the Twilight Verses this weekend.

This event will see performances by eight renowned poets in the Delhi circuit {like Priya Poddar, Nimisha Srivastava, Mr. Prakash, a senior poet} a musical performance by Zahra Husaini and you’ll also be able to snack on some palatable old Delhi delicacies. Poetry and food, already sounds like a great night!

Also, if you’re a closet poet, you should register for their open mic event because there’s no better way to test the waters, get your voice heard and gain constructive feedback than before an audience who loves poetry and everything about it.

Who Is It For?

If you believe in the power of the spoken word, like everything about English poetry {the verses will all be in English at the event} and would love to spend a Saturday watching talented artists perform some of the most heartfelt verses that might change the way you think, the Twilight Verses event is for you.

If you’re a budding wordsmith, this could be the perfect stage for you put yourself out there; if you’re an artist seeking inspiration, this is where you could find that spark of creativity and if you’re a poetry enthusiast, this is where you could meet like-minded who share your love for words, rhythm and sounds.

Why Should I Go For It?

For the love of poetry.

If you’ve ever been to a poetry night, you’d know that there is a kind of beauty in watching someone speak with all their heart, share profound thoughts and open themselves up completely before an audience. If you’ve never been to one of these nights, you have all the more reason to go. You can witness some of the best contemporary spoken word artists in the city at their creative best, enjoy good music, take the stage if you’ve been yearning for a great platform and just have a jolly good time with poetry and people. And when there’s good, good grub from old Delhi involved in the picture, you know it’s going to be feast.

Plus, Sanjay Rajoura, a stand-up artist known for his satirical rhetoric will be the guest of honour for the event. Who knows, you might even see him perform!

This event has art, poetry, music and food.. everything that makes for a great event, we think.
