Feel like you’re out of options for things to do on the weekend? Head to the Heritage Transport Museum in Taoru, Gurgaon {Manesar} for something different. It takes a little over an hour from New Gurgaon {or what all of us know as Gurgaon} to get there, so set out early.
As soon as you step inside the gates, you’re welcomed by a restored tram and a tree made of traffic lights. You could even try your hand at working the railway signals they have installed outside.
Once inside the building, grab your {super informational} audio guide and you’re all set to explore the four-storied museum. The tour starts with the invention of the wheel and slowly covers different modes of transport. From the traditional Palkis to a futuristic motorcycle concept, it has everything.
Feast your eyes {you can’t touch the exhibits} on trucks and buses from decades ago, classic cars that take you right into The Great Gatsby, and two-wheelers like Vespas, Lambrettas, and Royal Enfields from a different era.
Make sure you check out the DC-modified car that SRK drove in Dil Toh Pagal Hai. There’s a suspended Chevy covered in mirrors, a Contessa covered in coins {INR 1}, a modified Royal Enfield, and a whole lot of muscle cars.
They even show a movie in the basement, so make sure you take some time out for it. Oh, and look out for the light installations at the museum, using old headlights and indicators. A lot of their furniture is made using old tires as well.
Once you’re done exploring, you can pick up something from the souvenir shop that's on the ground floor.
