What Makes It Awesome?

I'd gone to Nainital a few days back. While on our way back to Kathgodam from Nainital, our cab driver told us about this man who runs and sells the best desi mutton thali ever. Once we came close, he asked if we wanted to try and we jumped in excitement at the idea of this. Uncle indeed makes and sells a lip-smacking thali - mutton curry with rice, chutney and onions in the middle of nowhere. His local and rustic dhaba is off the road and almost in the middle of a forest. Made on woodfire, this little place has a charm of its own. He opens his dhaba at around 11am and by 4pm the food is literally sold out! A plate of that delish mutton and rice is only for INR 140 at this spot, it's totally worth the experience.

What Could Be Better?

A few more tables and chairs would be better because it's usually crowded and if you don't get the space, you'd have to eat while standing or be served in the car/cab!

What's My Pro Tip?

Keep an eye out while looking for this dhaba. Between Nainital and Kathgodam, if you see a few cars parked at the side of the road and there are no shops around, get down there. Simple!

Anything Else?

Do not be fussy about the food or the location. You'll get a great plate of mutton curry and rice, cooked with love by a man who has made a name for himself while serving in the middle of nowhere. Imagine having a hot meal while standing right amidst the forest? Yup. There you go! It's absolutely worth it. Trust me!
