This Resort in Udaipur Is Away from the Chaos, Amid Nature & Budget-Friendly

Mention Udaipur, and two visuals instantly spring into mind: first, its beautiful lakes (of course), and second, the palatial properties where people host big, fat weddings or check in for romantic staycations. You can never get enough of the former; the city easily rivals the Venices of the world with its stunning lake views. The latter, though, can feel a bit hoity-toity, especially if your idea of a trip goes beyond concierge services at a lavish (and wallet-hurting) hotel.

If that sounds like you, and you are looking to cut out the noise (literally), and stay far away from the city's tourist-heavy pockets, bookmark Tree Of Life Amara Resort & Spa. Opened in 2025, this property is a short drive away from the city, tucked away in the Aravalli Hills and sets the tone for a truly relaxing getaway.

The Resort

From the moment you enter, you are welcomed by an expansive pathway paved with interlocking stones. A golf cart whisks you up to reception and quickly becomes your primary mode of transport around the property. Spread across hilly terrain with slopes and steep inclines, the resort is best navigated this way.

On the way to your room, you will catch glimpses of vernacular-style architecture. Curved walls, balconies, and earthy tones that strike a balance between rustic charm and understated luxury, a refreshing shift from the usual Udaipur palace-like opulence.

The distant Aravalli hills, paired with thatched roofs and curved facades (reminiscent of Bali resorts), create a setting that complements rather than competes with nature. Add to that meandering pathways and lush green patches, and the whole place feels quietly tropical.

The Room

Tree Of Life Amara Resort & Spa currently houses 33 rooms. Ours was the Premium Room with a private pool — spacious, thoughtfully designed, and equipped with all the essentials.

Natural light greets you generously in the room during the day through a large window overlooking the bed, while bird chirping becomes your background soundtrack. It's the kind of place that nudges you to slow down, catch a breath and just enjoy the company of your roomies.

The balcony is the highlight, featuring an open shower and a private pool with views of the Aravalli hills. Lush plants in front add a layer of privacy, making your dip feel all the more indulgent.

The Food

The all-day dining restaurant has an open, breezy vibe, thanks to its location beside the swimming pool — which, yes, overlooks a shimmering lake.

From a breakfast buffet with all the usual suspects (North Indian, South Indian, and Continental) to a hearty Rajasthani thali that will likely put you into a happy food coma, the menu delivers on both variety and flavour.

Activities

The team here goes the extra mile to make sure you are well-fed, entertained, and making the most of your time in the city. Their sightseeing recommendations are spot on.

For a more immersive culinary experience, you can opt for a visit to a nearby village, where your Rajasthani meal is prepared on a traditional lakdi ka chulha, with fresh chutneys ground on the spot. Or, hook yourselves up for an in-house culinary session where the chefs teach you an authentic Rajasthani speciality (gatte ki subzi for the win).

If relaxation is on the agenda, head straight to the spa. The therapists work their magic using Ayurveda-backed oils and techniques. Follow it up with a dip in the infinity pool — highly recommended when the sun's setting for a gorgeous view.

If you are stepping out, ask the team to arrange a visit to Eklingji Temple, just 20 minutes away. This 1,300-year-old Shiva temple, built in Nagara style with marble and sandstone, is a vision to behold.

The Service

Service here is warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. You are always greeted with a smile, and the team is quick to tailor experiences to your preferences — whether that's booking a spa session or setting up a nice high tea by the lake. It's the kind of hospitality that makes it easy to fully unwind.

Room tariffs start at approximately INR 9,000, inclusive of breakfast. All things considered, if you are after a boutique stay in Udaipur that offers peace, panoramic views, and an unparalleled connection to nature, without the excess frills, Tree Of Life Amara Resort & Spa is a solid pick for your next escape.
