What Makes It Awesome

We’ve got 29 states and Twenty Nine is celebrating all of them (sorry, we had to!) We’ll start off with some facts- there’s 29 states in India, each has a unique art style, most of them are widely underappreciated and inaccessible. At Twenty Nine, their mission is simple - to make traditional weaves accessible to the contemporary woman without compromising on age-old traditions. Through their gorgeous tops, capes, lowers and tunics, all shoppable online, Twenty Nine gave a fresh aesthetic to keep age-old crafts alive and thriving.

Our favourite has to be their Bandhani collection; while the print is so obviously traditional, they’ve given it a modern flair by using asymmetrical silhouettes and we’re honestly obsessed. The Pink Bandhani Tunic works as a dress and you could even style it with cigarette pants to make it work as a high-low kurta!  The tops are nothing typical; there aren’t any tight fits, but you’ll find capes and peplum tops that are super flattering. We also really liked the Lowers section with mirror work pants, palazzos, dhotis, shararas and even loongi skirts. The Flared Tulip Pants gave such a fun touch to an otherwise casual outfit without seeming like we’re trying too hard.

We loved their collection and their mission even more as every piece of clothing honestly just reminded us how beautiful and unique every state in India is and also worth celebrating! We also spent a fair amount of time looking at their beautiful photographs just to appreciate the direction behind it.

What Could Be Better

We weren’t crazy about the price tags on most of the clothes so a slightly more affordable line would be nice.

Pro-Tip

These outfits are meant to look effortlessly chic so we love to pair them up with a simple pair of juttis or kohlapuris instead of heels.
