All the time I wasted on Instagram scrolling proved fruitful when I found Dhuri. A Faridabad-based brand, handcrafting each piece of jewellery they sell. Instantly in love with their designs, I decided to talk to the brains behind it, Madhurima Singh, who extensively worked with Sabyasachi before starting her label. The brand started in 2014, a pioneer in sustainable fashion in India. She was a part of many panels (alongside big names like Anita Dongre) busting myths on sustainability, like how certain types of cotton are not environment friendly, staying very true to her cause.
While the pandemic meant a stop for her clothing label, it re-birthed into an exceptional accessory brand. It is focused on creating beautiful items — earrings, necklaces, bracelets, pendants — that are actually good for the planet. The ceramic mix they use is made from scratch and doesn't require to be fired up in a kiln; it is air-dried. Some of these are decoupaged carefully, and some are hand-painted with oil paints, but all are incredible. If that wasn't enough, let me tell you that they are also unbreakable (we won't suggest throwing them to test, though), so they last a long time.
I've been wearing the Tinsel Magnolia earrings almost every day for about a month now; they match most of my outfits and make me feel dressed up even when I'm not. The jewellery hasn't tarnished, and there are no visible signs of wear. Safe to say, I'll be shopping from them again.
Price: INR 1,850 upwards
PS: Their earrings were also a part of the NYFW 2021.
