I've always wondered why women's western formals are so hard to find and why they're so expensive? I suppose there is more definition in the style and cut than casual wear but given that working women need a pretty big wardrobe for a 5-6 day a week job, the whole thing works out rather steep. So while browsing for new brands online, I bumped into Salt Attire and was pleasantly surprised to learn that it's a local brand, straight out of G Town.
After being an online fashion tech startup for women’s workwear, Salt Attire has launched its first offline experience store in Gurgaon at Galleria Market, Gurgaon, the store feature’s premium collections of workwear apparel, jewellery and accessories. Apart from print, SALT also offers tailored apparel which is made to order, just choose from their pret line, give your measurements and get a customized outfit at no additional cost. What I liked most about SALT was the fact that the clothes are styled for an Indian body type, considering that most brands use International sizing charts which rarely suit me. SALT Attire’s tailored fits were ideal for me since I could have the pieces I chose, tailored to my body measurements.
The range for the season includes beautifully fitted pencil skirts that are an ideal length for workwear, they’re available in several solid colours and pair perfectly with an array of printed formal shirts. If you prefer something longer than standard formal shirts, then they have tunics as well, which pair very well with their tailored pants. Pants, shirts and skirts are fairly usual when it comes to formal work attire, what I liked about the range here were the dresses, with a customization option, these turned out to be ideal for conferences, travel and even work-related events and a great change from the usual! From all their collections, my current favourites are the Mimoto-Kapaas, which is pure cotton based and the blazers are great for all seasons. For a more formal look, I loved their plaid collection, called Highlands and Hana which is all about floral prints, making workwear more fun than most brands. Best is that they also have scarves, belts and jewellery to create an entire look so you don’t have to go elsewhere to shop for accessories! I was also told that all the fabric Pre-washed, to remove any stains and odour, Pre-shrunk, to ensure there are no shrinkage issues. All the shirts are designed to be gaping free and the pants and skirts are made with stretch fabric, which keeps the shape in place even after several washes. Time to go stock up on the upcoming season's wardrobe!
