Uraki: Organic Naga Dishes & Ingredients

Shortcut

Tucked inside Arjun Nagar {Safdarjung}, Uraki is your destination for all Naga food and ingredients. Momos, Duck Curry with Bamboo Shoot, Kohima Villa Style Pork, Raja Mircha and pickles; take your pick.

DL on the ambience

This isn’t a place where you go to enjoy a long, leisurely meal. It’s more like a grocery store equipped with a few chairs and tables to accommodate a small group of people. Run by Naga Cuisines, Uraki has a small kitchen at the back where the magic happens. They don’t have a AC so we’d strongly recommend ordering in to truly enjoy all they have to offer in a comfortable setting.

What should you order?

The menu is a largely non-vegetarian affair comprising lots of pork and duck dishes supplemented by sticky rice, fried rice and a bunch of uber spicy chutneys. We hear their Pork Sumi Thali, Naga Spicy Chicken Wings and Hasuchu {duck in Naga ginger and red chilli} are some of their best items.

If you’re not feeling too adventurous, they also have the run-of-the-mill Steamed Vegetables, Manchurian and even a Palak Paneer.

For your cooking sessions

If you’re hopping over to Uraki, you can also indulge in a bout of shopping for your pantry: They’ve got pickles, fermented fish, bamboo shoot, chutneys and many other ingredients used in Naga cuisine you won’t find at your local grocery store.

We’re bookmarking Uraki for the times we’re craving a meal full of heat and spice.

PS: They use no Ajinomoto in their preparations and claim to use only the best organic ingredients.
