Urban Pattang is a home decor brand that has India at its very core. From vibrant colours and the kind of materials they use (loha, kaanch and desi mitti) to the names of their products (kachua planters, tarazu tea-light holders and lambu ji bowls), this brand celebrates India and all its arts. Urban Pattang is a venture started by two sisters, Parul Nauhwar & Shubhani Gupta Shukul, out of their love for art and all things Indian (which is clear the moment their website opens up). Firstly, we love that they’ve played with names. They could’ve called the bowls and jars just that, but they’ve kept the names fun and desi. For instance, you’ll see that the clay decor section’s called ‘Mud-a-gascar’ and the iron decor section is called ‘Ek Lohar Ki‘.
Coming to the products themselves, the sisters have managed to merge animals with utility home décor, and they’re incredibly creative and cute. Honestly, who would’ve thought that a donkey toothpick holder or giraffe bowls aka Lambu Ji could look this cool? We’re a fan of their hand-painted jars too that can instantly brighten dull corners. As for the walls, the painted tawas and framed kites are just the bit of art our boring walls at home could do with. Know what else we’re eyeing? The khatiya key holder.
Also, their products are all handmade by local artisans, and these guys ensure fair compensation. Now, what’s not to love about a venture with creativity and heart?
