With the Jazz Festival behind us, we haven’t lost our opportunity to – in the words of Korean legend Psy – stay classy! This coming weekend, the city can witness the evergreen Four Seasons by Vivaldi in concert, against the beautiful backdrop of the Baha’i Lotus Temple.

With a mix of violin solo, full-blown orchestra with 22 musicians and famous vocal compositions like Gloria and Magnificat belted out by a choir of 28 singers, Delhi is all set to give in to the soul of Italian baroque and timbre.

We spoke with the Neemrana Music Foundation, which is not just bringing the concert to Delhi, but also doing so for free! One of the goals of the foundation is to bring about collaboration between the best that the East and the West have to offer. Françoise Lasserre, the man conducting the show, believes Western baroque and Indian classical share more traits than one would think.

Another goal of the foundation is to preserve and promote local talent – we’re thrilled to hear that six young Indian musicians have been sponsored and selected to join the rest of the ensemble that is flying in. Priya Wacziarg, Managing Trustee of the The Neemrana Music Foundation, says we can look forward to a fully Indian ensemble in 10 years time.

The Neemrana Music Foundation originally brought opera to the city and with this event, is hosting their first classical concert. Although the concert takes place indoors, it does so within the grand auditorium that is rated as one of the best, if not the absolute best, for fantastic acoustics that this celebration of Western Classical could simply not have done without.

If you thought there was nothing called a free Four Seasons, we’re here to tell you otherwise.

Notes in our Little Black Book |

Vivaldi’s eternal composition, The Four Seasons, along with classical vocals and orchestra will boom across the auditorium at the Baha’i Lotus Temple on March 29th and 31st at 6.30pm. Passes are available at the gates or can be booked in advance at the Neemrana Shop in Khan Market.
