What Makes It Awesome

From cooking to working out, there's a ton of things helping us keep sane during this COVID-19 pandemic. Mindful meditation through Sam Harris' Waking Up guide was one of those many things recommended to us by a friend and we are glad we listened to them. It really does work.

For the uninitiated, Sam Harris is an American author, neuroscientist, and philosopher whose work covers topics like religion, ethics, morality, politics, and free will. His books have received wide acclaim throughout the world and while we may not fully agree with all his observations, there are some logical arguments in his work that'll make you sit up and think.

This same scientific context and logic form the basis of his Waking Up app. We have tried the 50-day introductory course until now and can see a marked difference in how we are processing information and focusing on living in the moment. The introductory course has one session each day that lasts for about 10 minutes and is an excellent starting point for beginners (read: us).

The app also has a lot of meditation theory that you should definitely listen to. There are long sessions for experienced meditators and a children's meditation section as well, by Annaka Harris.

Pro-Tip

The trial version of the app gives you access to five sessions of the introductory course, some theory, and two children's sessions. For access to all the material, you'll have to get a yearly subscription (which we highly recommend) for INR 2,299.

If you feel like you can't afford that right now, don't get disheartened. Just drop them an e-mail with your request and they'll give you a free account. Have fun meditating!
