In the past couple of years, the cocktail culture in our city has gone beyond the conventional. Bartenders in popular bars all over the metropolis have been experimental with varied flavours, a multitude of garnishes, and have even started experimenting with the styling of the glass. It's an effort that's remains largely underrated, but with BACARDÍ Music CD's Legacy Competition, mixed by MTV, all that is about to change. The mixology pioneers are due for their moment in the sun with this brand new TV show.

The show offers them a chance to put their thinking hats on and create a cocktail so faultless that it is worthy of being declared BACARDÍ's Legacy Drink, joining the same sphere as timeless classics like the Mojito, or the Daiquiri. It has to be easy to prepare and replicate, has to reflect a part of the bartender's personal experience; the more unique the flavors, the better. The Indian chapter for the competition has already been done with, and 13 bartenders, from well-reputed backgrounds such as Taj and Radisson emerged victorious {after grueling tests, may we add}. Not just the hotels, but bartenders from popular standalones like Monkey Bar and ATM from our city have also proved their mettle in the initial rounds!

The winner will represent India in Sydney, and compete for the Global title. We've always been fascinated with the art of making drinks {yes, it is an art} and we're stoked for the commencement of the six-episode series. You can expect to be taken through the participants' journey, as they craft their own recipes, combining all sorts of flavors and condiments. And of course, there will be behind the scenes coverage! The show is to be judged by renowned chef and mixologist Dimitri Lezinska, of Parisian origin, and hosted by Nikhil Chinapa, of Splitsvilla fame. It will be aired on MTV- apt, considering it's India's largest youth platform.

A show of this format makes its debut in India, making it especially exciting. It also provides insight into a vocation that not many people have much knowledge about. As for us, we're going to have our shakers and strainers ready, pick up a few tips and finally put that home bar to good use.
