Watering Hole of the Month | Soi 7

Every month, raise your cocktail, beer or shot glasses at a bar we recommend, and drink!

The Space:  Regardless of whether you think your glass is half full or half empty, you could use a top up. From the crew behind Striker in Gurgaon comes a new kid on the block, Soi 7 Pub and Brewery, situated on the expansive terrace of Cyber Hub, on top of a lot more than its game. Essentially a microbrewery, Soi 7 also offers Asian cuisine, a performance stage, a boxing ring and a whole lot of space.

Spread over 3 different sections, what stood out for us is how it successfully manages to capture three different ambiences within one area. The inside has a designated space for live performances, gigs and the occasional stand up routine. The outside massive terrace is further divided into two areas, the seating around the aforementioned boxing ring {where Thai kick boxers and Muay Thai specialists fight it out}, and a relatively quiet balcony overlooking the brewing vats and Cyber Hub courtyard. Although unassuming in its façade, Soi 7 offers a lively, upbeat experience. Perhaps its popularity is by virtue of it being new; nonetheless, it doesn’t get dull, so now is the time to go! It's approachable, always sufficiently crowded and is relatively budget friendly. What works are the choices of entertainment it offers, and that it attempts to re-invent what would otherwise be just another bar.

What we’re drinking: Soi 7 offers 4 types of brews - the Wheat, Brooklyn, Amber and Dark, and their special premium beer named after what we can only imagine are boxing moves. We recommend the Brooklyn Amber and their premium label of beer. If you’re a fan of a lighter, weaker brew, try the Wheat. If you’re abstaining from alcohol, sample the signature Soi Punch; it’s a mix of orange, cranberry and pineapple juice, topped with grenadine syrup.

LBBD Tip: They’re strict on dress code {smart-casual} and won’t seat you if you’re in flip-flops. Since they’re relatively new, they do have slight teething issues, so we suggest a side of patience with the salt and pepper chicken. If you want to schedule a visit around a live fight, they are scheduled for Thursdays and Fridays at 09:00pm, and on Sunday afternoons at 03:00 pm.
