There's no denying that despite being cosmopolitan, Delhi and its surrounding cities are packed with tradition. This holds true, especially for Agra, fondly known as the city of love owing to the magnificent Taj Mahal. The architectural detailing and construction of the pristine marble leaves everyone who visits it awestruck.
While that's more than reason enough to pay Agra a visit, we'll give you one more. Take the weekend, get away, and plant yourself at the stunning, newly opened Courtyard Marriott property as you explore the city. It's a haven smack in the middle of the popular Fatehabad road, surrounded by the indigenous marketplaces, as well as the Taj and other forts at a stone's throw. Despite that, as soon as you enter, you're met with a serene atmosphere, absolutely cut-off from the chaos outside. The best of both worlds, we think.
If just taking it easy is the order of the weekend, you could spend the entirety of your trip at the resort - they have well-stocked rooms in pleasing shades of white, olive green and grey. We love the added cut-work details in the walls! There's also a pool, spa, a fitness center as well as a business center to rejuvenate and refresh you. They also have an all-day dining restaurant, as well as a bakery, bar and of course a fine dining North Indian restaurant. For large events, and if weather permits, dining on their plush lawns is a must. If not, they've got over 30,000 sq. ft dedicated to banquet halls, and conference rooms.
What we discovered on our visit was the perfect balance they've achieved - the property works for business and pleasure alike. They make you comfortable without being intrusive, and ensure every little detail is taken care of.
Notes in our Little Black Book |
On your next visit to Agra, make the brand new Courtyard Marriott your temporary residence. They'll treat you just right, striking the perfect balance between luxury and homeliness. The massive property houses 189 rooms {deluxe and executive suites, as well as terrace rooms}, a pool, fitness center and spa, as well as dedicated areas for children. The banquet halls and conference rooms work well for large events, as do their outdoor lawns. We suggest staying indoors in the summer months though, unless you're headed for a dip in the pool. The icing on the cake? The Taj Mahal is less than a 5 minute drive.
