Stilettos, Juttis Or Sneakers: Shoes To Wear To Weddings For Comfort + Style

Good for you if you picked high heels. You can keep the flag flying high for the rest of us who’ve given up. My favourite brand for heels is Charles & Keith and Steve Madden. Charles & Keith make more demure shoes like this pink pair but with a bit of an edge. This one does the heel differently. Steve Madden goes all out with being edgy, so if you can carry them off with spunk, go for it! Hazill and Lilie from Steve Madden’s collection are glitzy and work well if you like your shoes to do the talking. Both Charles & Keith and Steven Madden have started doing cushioned shoes, so that is a huge relief for high-heelers! Another brand that is great for stilettos is Forever 21, H&M & Nykaa Fashion. But check out all their Festive Collections. Otherwise, their range doesn’t work for weddings.

And good old Metro for the win, for wedges. Go where you want, you’ll find your way back to the Metro website or their stores (in literally every Indian town!) for their wedges. Sure they’re not straight off the runway, but what is great about Metro wedges are that they have been pretty much built for weddings. So, while comfort is key, they have straps in gold, bronze, silver, with sequins and embroidery...made just for saris, salwar suits and lehengas! Plus, Monrow shoes come with anti-slip soles as well as flexible structure. So, if you’re as clumsy as your are gorgeous, then this is definitely for you!

YAAS QUEEN! You time is now! And Rivir Shoes knows that. Which is why they have glitter sneakers with elegant bows, in colours like light purple, red, black and golden. Since they’re handcrafted, they are really light, and you can do justice to the dance floor with no ankle, knee or back pain after. Just be careful not to spill a drink on them, as they’re a little delicate because they are canvas. But the soles are rubber, so all those lawn parties will be a breeze for you! H&M too does these glitter and sequence sneakers well. But not as dressy as they have regular laces. But the bonus is that if you have tiny feet like I do ( everyone else, don’t judge) then the kids section at H&M is perfect. Unicorns, butterflies, flowers...ooh dance floor dazzler you’ll be! But first, Rivir Shoes! There is also the dazzling Converse pair and this one from Coral Haze Wear only if you have plenty of swag!

Our absolute favourite? This one from The Saree Sneakers. Actually, literally everything from The Saree Sneakers.

These may not be as delicate looking as stilettos, but they are 10X more comfortable, so drop the drama and wear block heels, ladies! Plus, you won’t sink into the sand, or lawn, or carpet! The LBB Crew’s current favourites for block heels are Tam, SkoSti and The Cai Store. Tam is brilliant if you’re looking for vegan, stylish, clean and earth-friendly shoes that are priced mostly under INR 1,500 with sizes from 35 to 41. SkoSti is priced at INR 1,750 for the more elaborate shoes, but check out their straps; they do really different ones - from printed and embroidered ones to gladiator style mules and even netted tops. With The Cai Store look directly at the Hues Of Bliss collection, which is their festive one. If you like pearl-embellished shoes, block-heels with beaded straps, or even studded ones, this is for you. Just remember that their shoes fit quite snug. Getting a larger size might help, but do try them first.

Don’t grumble that they are not actually from Kolhapur, just rejoice in their style and comfort! For braided and embroidered Kolhapuri slippers, Adoreline is best. They’ve got them in silver, green, gold and of course tan. They even do a different version with a circular one-toe detail if you want something a bit different. Juttismaker is another brand to check for Kolhapuri chappals, especially if you want a new colour for every day of the week. Pick from yellow, blue, embroidered ones, solid beaded ones, multi-coloured beaded straps and even patterned ones. Both brands start at about INR 600 for simple pairs, and go up to about INR 1,600 with Juttismaker being less pricey.
