Instagram Star And Baker Extraordinaire: What's In Shivesh Bhatia's Little Black Book?

At the age when most kids were excited to get their driver’s license, Shivesh Bhatia quickly whipped up a storm in the baking industry. This culinaire wunderkind started out when he was just 17 years old, by baking and uploading drool-worthy shots of all the scrumptious goodies he’d make on his Instagram account.

He now has a whopping 108 k followers and runs his own baking blog. Not bad for putting up pretty pictures of food, am I right? In addition to this, he’s even won a staggering number of commendable awards! He was voted Traveller Social Media Star Of The Year 2017 by CondeNast, Outlook Social Media Award in 2016, Best Food Instagrammer by Living Foodz Epicurean Guild Awards- in 2018, amongst others. He’s also been in Vogue’s list of 20 under 26 and been covered by tons of food and lifestyle blogs.

Shivesh was inspired by his grandmother to start baking when he just started out (and his nani apparently made the best chocolate cake he’s ever tasted). He’s come a long way from there now, conducting baking classes in Mumbai and Delhi with the likes of Pooja Dhingra (of Le 15 Patisserie fame).

What we love about his blog is how he uses simple recipes to create the most fantastic looking desserts. Baker or not, it’s a treat just to see the images and videos he uploads of his delish cakes, brownies and cookies (his one true weakness). He’s currently working on something really BIG. When Shivesh isn’t busy styling photos in his studio or stuffing his face in Khan Market (read: Big Chill Cakery), you’ll spot him exploring these spots in Delhi.
1. Llama’s Kitchen in HKV for their traditional Tibetian food. He recently turned vegetarian and thoroughly enjoys their vegetarian momos. 2. Chumbak for all the quirky and colourful props he uses while styling food – from their tableware to flatware. 3. INA Market for sourcing fresh produce, seasonal fruits, dried fruits, berries and yummy ingredients. 4. Maison Des Desserts at HKV for their Pavlovas, Hummingbird Cakes and just the whole vibe of the place. It’s one of his favourite spots in town, but sadly – it recently shut and he’s heart broken.
