Ten-Second Takeaway
The rare purple-blue Karvi flowers are in bloom after a period of eight years in the region - and now, an upcoming festival is inviting nature enthusiasts to be a part of this phenomenon.
What's It About?
The upcoming Karvi Festival will let nature enthusiasts be a part of amazing workshops, concerts and a lot more fun activities, all in the midst of the blooming Karvi flowers. Nestled in the Western Ghats, the twin hill stations of Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani, the Karvi Festival is just what we're looking for when it comes to taking a quick getaway from the city.
The flowering of the magnificent Karvi {Carvia Callosa} flowers is a rare affair in the Western Ghats- as rare as once in eight years. So naturally when it's season time, it's also time to call nature lovers for a festival that lets you relax, rejuvenate and learn, all at the same time.
To be held on September 16, 17 and 18, this festival promises its guests 72 hours of food, concerts, treks, films and talks {we already like the sound of it}. Day one will begin with an art and craft workshop for children and adults, followed by the festival opening that will showcase an eight-minute documentary titled 'A Classroom Of Flowers'.
Day two will start at 7am with a walk through the Mahableshwar forest's Karvi trail, and the rest of the day will include a music concert {bands to be announced soon}, among other special activities. The last day will start with a visit to the Devrai art village and will include activities like a visit to an organic farm, music jam, workshops and more.
What Else?
For a three-day festival that offers so much, it's reasonably priced at INR 2,500 {which includes admission to all events and breakfast on Saturday and lunch on Sunday}. For children under the age of 14, passes can be purchased for INR 1,000}. The official website of the festival includes a detailed itinerary for all the days, along with accommodation details {your stay can start for as cheap as INR 900} and information on travel too.
So We're Thinking…
This festival will be a great way to kick your daily stress in the butt, and soak in some nature in its purest form.
