Nestled at the foothills of the Bramhagiri hills in a little village called Pookola in South Coorg, Trees 27 is smack in the centre of a 40-acre coffee estate, and privacy is a given. And since they’ve got lovely cottages and tents, specifically kitted out to accommodate groups, being boisterous and having a marvellous time is top priority. The two Wooden Cottage are like log cabins and have five single beds each, with attached bath. So if you’re not too comfortable living in a tent, then pick these. For the more adventurous, the Swiss cottage tents are fantastic! Sturdy and practically like a cottage, these two also house five each with one bathroom to share. Sounds like it’s back to boarding school eh? And that exactly what is the charm of this place.

Apart from midnight card games, and inevitable face drawing on the deepest sleeper’s face, early mornings are beautiful here. So, a hot cuppa over chatter is in order, but more so, a trek! Wear your sneakers and just follow any path you choose {leave a bread crumb trail!}. While you roam through the coffee, pepper, oak trees and rosewood too, make sure to look up as it’s a bird watchers paradise. Apparently, Coorg is home for over 500 species, so if one friend is a keen ornithologist, she or he must be on this hike!

Oh, you want some water adventure too? No problem. Just about four kilometres is the Barapole river, ideal for some serious rafting. Post monsoon is best for good rapids, but it’s functional all year. All meals are part of the tariff here, so no need to worry about food.
