Event Info

Lady Anandi is a documentary theatre performance, a first of its kind in India. A female actor, Lady F, is haunted by the ghost of her great-grandfather —a female impersonator in late 19th C Marathi theatre—every time she goes up on stage, and her love for moustaches. Lady Anandi is being presented at that moment when research ends and performance begins. In the absence of a director, the audience, take on that role. Therefore, the Q&A at the end of the show is an important part of the performance. It has had over 35 shows across India. Its DIY aesthetic enables it to be showcased at varied spaces —an old film studio, a museum of modern art, a basement, a classroom, a brewery, at an under-construction office, to name a few.
