The Gerard Machado Network is primarily a Jazz/Blues/Fusion band and consists of Gerard Machado (Guitar/Vocals) ,William D'soua( Drums and Konnakol) and Joshua Costa ( Keyboards). GERARD MACHADO: Guitar / Vocals Gerard started playing the guitar at the tender age of six. He is an accomplished and versatile guitarist. His style of guitar playing is a unique blend of Jazz, Rock and Blues styles. A fine musician, he has worked & collaborated with many famous musicians for several years in India and abroad. He comes from a musical family who were known as The Vonn Trapp Family of Mangalore. He is a fine composer & arranger and has recorded many Jingles for advertising companies and has scored music for Animation films. He has conducted Jazz workshops for corporate companies and has scored the music for an English feature film called the “Out House”. Gerard has also experimented with Indian Carnatic music and has released albums titled ‘Clean Licks’ and ‘Touch another Life’ in collaboration with Veena Vidushi Dr Suma Sudhindra. He has released Jazz/Rock/Fusion Albums called “SPECTRUM” and “CADENCIA”. He has also recorded several Gospel Albums. He has performed for the prestigious “Jazz Yatras”. He has his own recording studio where he produces music. He leads his bands - “The Gerard Machado Network” and “The Gerard Machado Trio”. The band’s forte is straight ahead Jazz incorporating the Blues, Funk, Latin & Indian Rhythms. Joshua Costa Originally from Goa and have been in Bangalore for the past 4 years. Have been playing keyboards and piano from the age of 8. Having studied pop keyboard very initially made me open to playing across various styles such as Pop, Rock and more recently having forayed into Jazz and Blues. Have played with various bands and artists in both, Goa and Bangalore. To name a few, Colin D’Cruz and Jazz Junction, Gerard Machado and the Gerard Machado Network, Megha (Indo Fusion Band) and the more recently formed Butterfingers – a band playing retro and cross genre stuff. Musical tastes range across Jazz, Latin, Funk and Blues to Rock n Roll and other retro stuff. I love to play anything and anywhere, where my creative gene gets activated and I am able to improvise and experiment. I have an album of my own (Always there) produced under the JazzGoa label. Listen to a lot of variety because I believe what you hear is what comes out of you, Stuff I listen to includes Keith Jarret, Chick Corea, More recent New Age jazz artists such as Robert Glasper, Manual Valera and also contemporary pop such as ABBA, Carpenters, Beatles, Sting etc. My goal is to have fun in music be it at a studio, stage or wherever and keep learning as I go along.
