The View Of This Waterfall In Madikere From The Hanging Bridge Is #InstaGoals

Shortcut

Nestled between private coffee plantations of Madikeri is the beautiful Abbey Falls. One of the biggest waterfalls in Coorg, it makes for a great picnic spot amidst picturesque settings.

What Makes It Awesome

If you’re planning a trip to Coorg, visiting Abbey Falls is one of the things you have to tick off your list. Located eight km away from Madikeri city centre, the water cascade coming down from a height of 70 feet is a spectacular scene to behold.

There is a hanging bridge on the other side of the waterfalls, from where you can enjoy the scenery. Feel free to capture the essence -- you might even get sprayed with water and can spend all your time taking pictures with the waterfalls. Some small mountain streams and brooks join to form this natural spectacle of South India and end up joining River Cauvery.

The walk to the falls from the main entrance has around 200 steps that take you through cardamom and pepper plantations. If you’re a shutterbug, you will enjoy the real beauty and serenity of the natural world. Although the waterfall is open all year long, we suggest heading here from July to October.

Pro-Tip

Standing directly under the falls is now prohibited because the flow of water has become rather strong. So in case, you had plans of taking a shower in natural waters -- you may have to rethink your plans.
