What Makes It Awesome

OK, so we all loved the fancy house in Gehraiyaan. And we all believed that the beach mansion - which by the way, plays a fairly important role in the film - was in Alibaug. Think again! This lovely property is actually in Goa and is a beautiful boutique resort in Dolphin Bay. Say hello to Ahilya By The Sea in Nerul.

A tastefully decorated property that boasts of two beautiful swimming pools, a spa, three independent villas, a gorgeous treehouse and magnificent views, one picture from here and your Instagram feed will blow up! We specifically love the Sunrise Infinity Pool that sets the mood for an early morning workout, a quiet dip to welcome the sunrise, or even to laze around in the afternoon in the balmy weather with a book in hand. If you go there during spring-summer time, the place looks even more magical thanks to the pink and white frangipani dotting the lawns. For the proper Goa feels, the coconut trees, infinity pool, with the ocean in the background will make it the perfect #NoFilter picture.

If you manage to stop staring into the horizon, then the food at The Ahilya is worth it and more. Known for a mix of Goan, Italian, and French cuisines, focus on the fresh catch of the day if you're the fishy kinds. They say they only use super fresh ingredients from the local market, and we're here for it. Oh, and just so you get to explore the property, and don't get bored of dining in one place each night, dinner is usually an alfresco affair in different spots of the resort.

As for the rooms, there are The Leela, Sunset, Sunrise villas which you can either book out entirely, or just book a room at. But for the real deal, pick Arjun's Tree House. Perched on the branches of a 200-year-old banyan tree, the room is cosy and even has a treetop terrace. Perfect for some solitary unwinding, or for some quiet time with your partner.

When you're ready to leave paradise - albeit only briefly - to explore more of Goa, hit up the Morjem Beach for excitement but not OTT excitement! For more about the Sunshine State and what to do there, check out the LBB Guide To Goa. Then come back to the property for a spa session!

Prices at Ahilya By The Sea start at INR 15,000 per room.

Pro-Tip

Book well in advance for this place. While it was always a prime spot, it's gained more popularity since the film, so plan at least two to three months ahead!
