The Cottage Life
Located just 100 meters from the Kodaikanal Lake, this rustic meets Pinterest-worthy cottage will give you major travel goals just by looking at the pictures {see above}. It’s giving us all those Enid Blyton vibes. Built around the early 1960s, this cottage consists of three bedrooms {The Purple Room, The Beatles Room, and Master Bedroom}, done up minimally but will all the modern amenities. All the rooms offer you a view of the garden or the lush green that surround the cottage with the master bedroom being the winner. It has a small breakfast table by the window that looks out to the greens. If you are checking in with bae, you know you’ve got yourself a spot for some candid pictures.
Unwind Time
Given how prettily the cottage is done up, the chances of you leaving the cottage is low. For instance, the kids’ playroom that’s attached to the master bedroom is a perfect nook to catch up on some reading or just have a long chat with your BFF. Or leave your kids {if you are bringing any} to play with the blocks and toys. The living room and the dining hall are where you and your squad can squat around on the couches and armchairs and play UNO or Monopoly {you’ll have to bring that though}. We also love the sloping roofs and the stone walls, giving it that vintage feel. Don’t miss the monocycle on one of the bedroom walls!
Feel like posting on social media? The whole cottage during the evenings, when it’s lit up, should make for a nice picture. Then there’s the porch and the garden, which looks like it’s part of the Downton Abbey set, complete with manicured lawns, wrought iron garden furniture and a walkway to the cottage lines with flowers. Perfect for your selfies or group pictures, we think. Lest we forget, you’ve got the whole lake to go shutterbug crazy. And it’s only a hop, skip and jump from here.
Booking Your Experience
The house comes with a supervisor and a caretaker/maid/cook who will be there to help you out with everything from booking a cab to the town to cooking your meals. We also hear, that tea is a must-have here, as it is not only brewed well, but come on, cottage, hill station, cold temperatures…there’s got to be tea!
