Anita Dongre Grassroot, a label that marries design with a social conscience, is now out with its Spring/Summer collection for 2016. They work with NGOs like Mijwan, SEWA, and Khamir in Kutch, and even individual artisans with specific skills (like dyeing, for instance).
The spring/summer line features beautiful Indian techniques such as kantha, tie & dye, mirror work, chikankari, block printing, phulkari, Bhujodi, Ahir embroidery, and ikat. They’ve made use of light summery fabrics like muslin, khadi, and hand-spun cotton, all natural dyes, and an earthy colour palette (with lots of greys, ecrus, peaches, and of course, whites), all of which we think work perfectly for the scorching summers soon to cross our paths.
The fit of the clothes are comfortable and fuss-free, just the way summer clothing should be. Our eyes are set on the long ikat jackets and the linen trousers and tunics.
