Skip Town And Head Out To These Popular Twin Waterfalls, Just Three Hours From Bangalore

    Navya posted on 05 September

    Ten-Second Takeaway

Make a splash at the famous Balamuri and Edmuri Falls on your next day out. Coracle rides and chomping on fried fish can also be part of the itinerary.

    Test The Waters

A breezy drive on the Bangalore-Mysore Highway will bring you to Balmuri and Edmuri Falls. A common sight in Sandalwood movies, Balmuri is the more popular of the two. The falls are actually more of gentle cascades that are formed by a check dam that’s built on the River Cauvery {yes, they are not natural}. Ensconced in greenery, you can enjoy a dip in the waters at Balmuri. But it’s best not to venture deep into the waters and keep away entirely if the dam’s gates have been opened.

Edmuri lies about a kilometer away from Balmuri. And while lesser known, it offers a similarly scenic setting. Plus, it is a lot less crowded than Balmuri so if you’d like some peace and quiet, we recommend you head here.

    Pack A Picnic

While there’s not much you can do around the falls, you can sure pack in some fun! During the monsoons, when the water levels are higher, you can enjoy coracle rides. Near Balmuri, there are plenty of makeshift stalls that fry up fresh catch from the waters. But if you want to spend an entire day exploring, consider heading out to the other attractions in the vicinity. The historical and ruined town of Srirangapatna is one option. So, are the Brindavan Gardens and Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary.
