What Is It?
Back for its fifth annual edition, the Bangalore Literature Festival brings together over 500 of the city’s best writing talent, as well as international authors. You’ll find the likes of Amish Tripathi, Kiran Manral, Chetan Bhagat, Roopa Pai and Carlo Pizzati, to name just a few participants — it’s a pretty impressive list overall and we're pumped! The lit fest is the perfect event to engage with authors, find out about the writing process and what goes into their works, and strike up discussions on relevant topics across literature. And it isn’t just fiction fans who should be excited, the event includes the best of non-fiction writing.
Who Is It For?
If you’re a voracious reader, this should already be on your to-do list! But if you aren’t, it’s still a pretty cool event to attend — you’ll find plenty of new reading material to draw you in, and be able to engage with people who might recommend you books you’d never have thought to read before. The festival also supports budding authors, so if that includes you, submit and stand a chance to pitch your work to literary agents and publishers!
Why Should I Go For It?
The Bangalore Literature Festival has also worked in association with Atta Galatta to create the Book Prize. Spread across three categories {fiction, non-fiction and Kannada language}, the winners share a pool of INR 2 lakhs, as well as the Thought Beyond Words trophy, so you know things are bound to get exciting. This year’s shortlist even includes a book by Amitav Ghosh — definitely something we’re looking forward to! Beyond that, who wouldn’t want to spend their weekend lounging on the lawns of Hotel Royal Orchid with some of the world’s most illustrious authors and the beautiful weather.
