Hot off the Presses: The Bangalore Lit Fest's Lineup and an all-new Avatar

The information in this post might be outdated

After our first look at the Bangalore Literature Festival, details of the lineup and other events have been released!

What’s new this year

For one, the venue. This year, the roving literary festival sets up its home in Hotel Royal Orchid on Old Airport Road.

Then there’s the matter of their partnership with Atta Galatta {who’ve previously written for us on Bangalore's literary scene here}, and an all-new literary award. The Literary Award will be offered for fiction and non-fiction in English, and an achievement award in Kannada.

For another, they're also going with a shorter format this year: the festival will be held across two days instead of three.

The line-up

You can look forward to sessions by writers such as Javed Akhtar, Shashi Deshpande, Sarah Joseph, and Upamanyu Chatterjee. As always, Kannada literature is well-represented, including Chandrashekhara Kambara and critic Narahalli Balasubramanya.

Special sessions include screenings of films in endangered languages such as Byari, Rabha, Konkani, and Haryanvi; a World War I centenary installation; the celebration of MS Subbulakshmi's centenary, with a performance by her granddaughter Aishwarya Srinivasan; and more.

Where: Royal Orchid Hotel, 1, Golf Avenue, Adjoining KGA Golf Course, HAL Airport Road

When: December 5-6, 10 am onwards.
