Ten-second takeaway

The eighth edition of The Bangalore Queer Film Festival 2016 brings you four days of queer films from around the world, exhibitions and performances.

Queer concepts

First started in 2003 and launched in a new format in 2009, The Bangalore Queer Film Festival (BQFF) is all set for its eighth edition in February. This crowd-funded event is organised by Good As You (GAY, one of the oldest LGBT support groups in the country), Swabhava Trust (a city-based non-profit NGO working with LGBT issues), We're Here and Queer (a city-based queer women's support group) and Pirate Dykes (a group which screens films that do not generally get mainstream releases in India).

LGBT focus

The four-day festival will include screenings of queer-themed movies, short films and documentaries from all over the world. So, you can expect everything from erotic and intense ones to animation and experimental films. As the list of movies to be screened will be finalised by the second week of February, we suggest you keep a close watch on their Facebook page. Apart from being a space to voice LGBT concerns, the event will also have art exhibitions, photo exhibitions, book launches, performances and panel discussions, all focussing on the queer community.
