A performing arts hub for enthusiasts of all ages, the Bangalore School for Performing Arts {BSPA} aims to change lives of kids and adults alike, as well as the mindset around the arts.

So You Think You Can Dance?

BSPA began operations as an original brand two years ago, and ever since, there has been no looking back for co-founders Ansul Kumar Garg {who has more than 10 years of experience in the dancing industry} and Guru Datha, both of whom are performing artists experts themselves.

School kids and teenagers form a majority of the academy’s clientele, with their youngest student being just three years of age. It is the school’s objective to teach kids that performing arts could very well be a viable career option, and we’re glad for that! The academy also has a bunch of adult students who are either looking to explore an art form or who want to continue practice in their area of passion. You can learn everything from ballet, kathak and contemporary to hip-hop, salsa and Bollywood. If you’re a budding thespian, acting and theatre classes are there to sign up for. No? More the fitness artist? Great, check out the gymnastics or taekwondo sessions the school has.

Art Focus

The BSPA’s focus on taking the performing arts beyond just another evening activity for one’s children is what is most striking and it is heartening to see two passionate performers go at achieving such a dream. And it’s not just a place you can learn with no judgement. They take the arts seriously, and in fact, the BSPA will soon have an Advanced Dance Development Programme which will be an intermediary-advance level course for the age group of 8-14 years. The one-year certification course will train kids in multiple dance forms and also allow them an opportunity to audition for leading reality shows and talent hunts. As for the adults, there is a Career in Dance Programme on the cards.

Party Time

Apart from being a school for the performing arts, it also doubles up as a venue for birthday parties too, as the well-lit, open studio is child-safe. The venue that is rented out over the weekends comes along with a play pen and soft-play area that the kids {and some adults} just love! All you parents who are lost when it comes to the other aspects of the birthday party, worry not. The school also assists with the organisation of the birthday party itself and can put you in touch with caterers, magicians and other entertainers.
