Be it a lavish wedding, a chic cocktail or a formal business dinner, banquet halls have a great responsibility — to impress. And while we know that there are numerous hotels that can host you, here’s our pick of the best of the lot. Plus, venues that are just there to help you have a good old party. Or, ahem, a formal business conclave.

JW Marriott, Vittal Mallya Road

This hotel has a host of venues for different events, based on capacity and size. The largest of these is the Grand Ball Room, which can be split into three separate halls or become one large hall. The hall can fit 500 people at maximum capacity, in a theatre setting. And we also like that there’s an al fresco area attached to it, so you can take the party outside. All the other halls are smaller, ideal for perhaps an intimate get together, or meeting and conferences. The Topaz Hall can hold around 175 people for a reception-style event. Another option for a large event is the lawns, able to fit almost a 1,000 people. Get in touch with them for a quote.

Palace Grounds

Located in the northern part of the city, there’s a host of options to choose from here, ranging from wedding venues, convention spaces, concert venues and more. Multiple entrances and many spaces for events simultaneously. There are four main venues — White Petals, Tripura Vasini, Sheesh Mahal, Gayatri Vihar. Each with their own charm and functionality, some of them are indoors while others are massive lawns for that dazzling reception you always dreamed of. Within each of these, there are other venues you can rent out. So don’t get confused, the four main divisions are really just entrances to the larger spaces. These are huge spaces and you can have as many as 2,000 people gathered at one time. (count might be currently staggered due to COVID-19 restrictions).

Leela Palace Bangalore

From boardrooms to terrace venues, the Leela has a venue for any event. And for a wedding, what better than a palace in the city? Prices are all given upon request and you could say this is one of the most elegant venues in the city. Yes, the royal interiors of the place will surely make the wedding come off as grand. And they’re one of the few places that allow a havan indoors, in the large room that can host up to 800 guests. See, you can get married in a palace!

Taj West End

From the Grand Ballroom, that truly is grand, and fit for 500 guests, to the Cycad conference ideal for a board meeting, the Taj West End is always a good address to have on an invitation. If you have a party of 80, don’t hesitate to book out the Blue Ginger Lawns though — dreamy, with a bit of an amphitheatre feel, it’s romantic and cosy. Gulmohar and Plumeria are halls that will work for groups of about 80-100, but if you want to go big, pick the Prince Of Wales lawns. On the last check, it was the largest wedding venue at a hotel, in the city, with a capacity of 800 outdoors.

The Grand Magrath

Tucked away near Garuda Mall on Magrath Road, this hotel is functional and pretty. There are five banquet halls to pick from with the smallest of them being the boardroom for 30. Then comes the Senate which can actually be divided into two for small business meetings or conferences. For a casual get-together or cocktail, the poolside area should do the trick. Going formal? The Grand Ballroom with its regal carpeting and glitzy chandeliers is perfect, be it a gather of 40 or 400. We do love the Crystal Ballroom for those massive wedding receptions or boisterous sangeets. It’s also rather large with a capacity of 800.

Jayamahal Palace

While the lawns of this palace are ideal for any occassion, simply because it’s so gorgeous, to suit the banquet purpose, pick the Durbar Banquet. With a maximum capacity of about 200 for a seated event and 350 for a floating crowd, it’s perfect for meetings, events and even a small wedding party. Then there is the larger hall outside the main building that is quite huge and can hold about 1,200 people, seated, but 2,000 if it’s a floating crowded. And with it, you get a bit of the lawn too so it’s really a win-win situation here.

Sathya Sai Samskruta Sadanam Koramangala

Be it a wedding, sangeet, naming ceremony, corporate event or a conference (it has a stage area too, you see), this one is ideal. Compact but big enough for about 400 or 500 folks, the draw for this one is that it is vegetarian only. So any events you have here must be catering only vegetarian food. We also love the auditorium feel of the place as it is enclosed.

MLR Convention Centre

Part of the Brigade Group, the convention centre here is ideal for perfomances (dance, theatre, music), weddings, conventions, conferences or any gathering, really. There are two options, one in JP Nagar and the other in Whitefield, so pick to your convenience. They will even kit you out with caterers, decor, lighting, music and salon services if it’s a social gathering. For official events, you can count on them for stationery, banners and signage.

Shubh Sankalp Banquet Hall

Located in Jayanagar, Shubh Sankalp Party Hall has been one of the most recommended party halls in the city thanks to its elegant structure and host of facilities. They don't just provide you with a banquet and a dining hall, they also look after the decorations, catering (vegetarian only) and provide ample car parking spaces within the property itself. Not to forget 24 hour power backup so the light is always on you. Get in touch with them for a quote and have your wedding set.

Samskruthi Banquet Hall

Samskruthi Banquet Hall in Jayanagar has a grand feel to it, all thanks to the hanging chandeliers, artsy mantaps and textured walls giving off an old world charm. They have a main convention hall with a semi-separate dining area. The property can host upto 300 people and they provide in-house catering and decorations. The connectivity is good with the RV Road Metro Station at walking distance. Get in touch with them for a quote.
