The state government has hit us with new guidelines as we enter phase 4.0 of unlock and we can hear the bars and restaurants of Bengaluru breathe a sigh of relief. Under the Union ministry of home affairs guidelines, restaurants and pubs will be allowed to serve liquor to customers on their premises from Tuesday, September 1. Alcohol consumption has been allowed after a gap of six months. And in an effort to not mix alcohol with social distancing, bars will allow only 50 per cent of the total seating capacity, conduct regular thermal and hygiene checks and encourage a contactless mode of ordering and payment.

Staff will follow a set of rules too, including wearing masks and gloves at all times and sanitising tables each time a customer leaves. Restaurants are expected to operate at normal business hours. The new guidelines will also relax restrictions on activities like Metro services, theatres and public gatherings this month. Read more about this on Times Of India here.
