What to eat

Start your dessert crawl with a Hazelnut Creme Pot. The layered dessert comprises a hazelnut and cookie crumble that gives way to a hazelnut flavoured chocolate, topped by a light whipped chocolate cream. The portion is just right to make you not feel too guilty. For larger portions and more decadence, try the Salted Caramel Baked Cheesecake that comes with a crumbly crust, followed by a slightly salty cheesecake (New York style) topped with a thick layer of gooey salted caramel. Make your dessert companion choose the many-layered Just Banoffee, a pâte sucrée (a sweet shortcrust pastry pie) filled with cinnamon-infused dulche de leche, sticky banana slices and lemon-scented mascarpone, giving the regular Banoffee Pie a rather interesting touch.

If you can survive the onslaught of so many desserts (best to go along in a group; the more desserts you get to eat is equal to more merrymaking), then Berry’d Alive’s selection of  puddings (The Lychee Pavlova is swell here), their sundaes (Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Sundae gets a thumbs up) and their new desserts such as the Pumpkin Flan, and sticky Nutella Pudding (Bring on the Nutella) are worth trying.

The DL on the ambience

Dessert places deserve to be happy places. Colourful seating (the new Church Street branch has a comfy lounge-like seating with roomy sofas) and white walls make up the setting here. Our only desire: if only some of those enticing desserts could be proudly displayed in a dessert bay.

So, we’re thinking…

What’s not to love about a standalone place that is dedicated solely to desserts!
