In the city's hustle and bustle culture darshinis are the rage, where one can get quick meals that work out, especially during weekdays when you've to grab that quick work lunch. But amongst all the darshinis, there are a small number of messes that quietly go about serving some solid meals. Here are our favourite messes in Bangalore in no particular order.
These Messes In The City Are Perfect For Quick Meals And Are Pocket-Friendly

If you're looking for an authentic vegetarian South Indian meal, then this is where you need to head to. Located in the bylanes of Malleswaram, Iyer Mess is a no-frills mess with a basic menu set and is open only for lunch and dinner. Ranganna Military Hotel
Military hotels are Bangalore's version of messes in our honest opinion, and one of the best is Ranganna, a more than half-a-century-old establishment. It's an all-out meaty affair here—you get everything from mutton pulao to kheema fry. Plus, their rasam is to die for!
Veruthe Oru Thattukada
The Kerala mess is located in Begur and it's one of our favourite Kerala restaurants in Bangalore. Their lunch meals are typical Kerala lunches with red rice, fish curry, fried fish, pappadam, and avial. Plus, they also serve porottas and Kappa Biryani too.
Jose's Mess
An almost cult-like place in SG Palaya, Jose's Mess serves up some solid Kerala food—their Fish Curry and Kerala-style Chicken Roast are what dreams are made of. They are open all through the day, so for brekkie go for puttu and kadala, for lunch stick to the meals, and for dinner go for porottas and egg curry.
Shree Khana Khazana
We're on the fence about calling this a mess, but it checks out all the boxes—quick meals, set menu, and pocket-friendly prices. The space serves vegetarian Rajasthani meals along with the option of ordering a la carte options such as rotis and curries. Their buttermilk is spicy and great to wash down all that good food you had.
