Piazzas, Poolsides And Date Spots: Here's Our List Of The Best Outdoor Restaurants In Town

Suzanna posted on 11 January

With its many lush green trees and dreamy weather, it’s a wonder that Bangaloreans don’t spend all day outdoors. Marrying the experience of enjoying good food and the great outdoors are these gorgeous restaurants in the city. From to poolside dining to the perfect dinner date spot, here’s our list of the best outdoor restaurants in Bangalore

Grasshopper

This hidden gem in Bannerghatta is by far the most romantic restaurant we’ve been to in the city. Set in a sprawling farmhouse, make your way to their completely al fresco dining space, in the midst of bamboo thickets, and sit at candlelit tables with freshly cut flowers on them. If this doesn’t floor your date, we don’t know what will. The menu is just as fancy as their set up. We highly recommend the prawn with sesame, ginger and mango and the succulent lamb roundels that are drenched in a red wine sauce. Pair the meal with some fine wine and dessert {they really know how to pamper the sweet tooth here} and you’ve got yourself a picture-perfect evening.

Olive Beach

Cane chairs, dim lights and fresh flowers peeking in from every corner, Olive Beach is all about creating a cosy mood around your dining experience. With Mediterranean and European dishes on the menu, start your meal with some of their delicious salads, before you move on to their popular mains, like the Meatless Moussaka, Coconut Milk and Prawn Risotto, and Spinach And Ricotta Ravioli. And don’t skip on dessert as they’ve got plenty to try here.

Big Brewsky

One of the prettiest microbreweries in town, Big Brewsky has knocked us off of our feet with the lavish space, poolside dining experience and their scrumptious fare of food and drinks. It looks especially stunning in the evenings when it’s all lit up. Score a table by the poolside, sip on some in-house brews and tuck into their delicious Chicken Shawarma Pizza and you’re in for a real treat.

The Piazza At UB City

With some of our favourite eateries in town, the piazza at UB City is one stop where we can get our food fix, whatever the cuisine {and your budget}. We love that all the restaurants are semi al fresco, and most have outside areas where you can soak up the sun and breeze simultaneously. Quintessential Bangalore, no? Feel like munching on some Mexican goodness? Head to Sanchez. In the mood for something healthy and delicious? Fava is right there. Sushi at Shiro, maybe? Keep it casual at Farzi Cafe or Cafe Noir with a warm cuppa and some cafe bites or take the Italian route and gorge on pizzas and more at Toscano. If you want to live the high life but your wallet doesn’t resonate the sentiment, there’s even a Subway and Keventers here for your low budget eats.

Blue Ginger At Taj West End

The oldest Vietnamese restaurant in town, Blue Ginger is for those who enjoy a fancy schmancy dining experience. A Taj West End restaurant, this place looks like a gorgeous tropical island with its open-air setting, plenty of lush green around and even a small pond with little fishes waiting to greet you. The rustic decor, hanging lanterns, fancy crockery and cutlery all add to the Vietnamese theme of the place. Expect Vietnamese and Thai classics on the menu for you to gorge on. Dining here is like taking a mini vacation to Vietnam, and we never miss a chance to vacay.

Sunny's

Arguably the best European restaurant in the city, this pet-friendly spot is set in a gorgeous old-time bungalow on Lavelle Road. With a lovely outdoor space and a verandah upstairs, enjoy cool breezes and great views and you devour classics like their Smoked Salmon Roll with Cream Cheese, Melon with Parma Ham and Crab Cakes. Do save room for dessert and order the flawless Crème Brulee and Tiramisu with mascarpone cheese. They’re a dog-friendly space too, so you’ll find one or two wandering about trying to make new friends too.

Rim Naam At The Oberoi

Set by a pond, the tables are under simple wooden roofs and their’s an Oriental charm about the whole set up here. Wooden furniture, dim yellow lights and a menu full of Thai classics, Rim Naam is perfect for a fancy evening out. Make sure you try the mushroom salad and corn cakes. The lobster with sweet basil sauce is also lovely, as are their curries {Mmmm, Massaman} and Pad Thai. A meal for two will set you back by INR 3,000, but the experience will be priceless.

The Promenade Of Orion Mall

Yet another mall’s outdoor area has made our list. This time, it’s Orion’s Promenade. With a line up of restaurants like Mainland China, Kobe’s Sizzlers, and Toscano, all set by a manmade lake, this is a great spot for chilling out or people-watching. Each restaurant has indoor seating as well, but we recommend getting a table outdoors, especially if the weather’s great.

Forage

A homely spot right in the heart of the city, Forage has a cosy indoor space as well as a charming al fresco set up. Colourful seating and statement rugs give the quaint setting a nice pop of freshness. They even have a bookshelf packed with interesting reads that you can pick up and browse through. California-style food with a healthy twist is what makes up the menu. The Beef Fillet, Zucchini Pappardelle and Soupy Lamb here are all must-tries and do pair them with a cold beer or fine wine for a truly satisfying meal.

The Smoke Co.

The folks behind Cafe Thulp opened this restaurant in October, and have quickly claimed one of the top spots on our list of favourite restaurants. Their Southern American style of curing and smoking meats is a winner with us and the Smoked Bone Marrow with sea salt and olive oil served here is to die for. Their al fresco setting is rather small with only four tables, but pairing smoked meats with the lovely Bangalore weather is a winning combination in our books and that’s why this one’s made our list. We can go on and on about this place, but we’ll just lead you to our complete recommendation here.
