The Bhetki Fish Fry at Kitchen Of Joy is something all citizens of Bong land will look forward to. Non-residents, you will love it too. This is no basa. It’s the real deal.

Eat What?

The Bhetki Fish Fry is new on the menu and at INR 120 only, it is a really good deal. It’s true that in Kolkata, you’d probably be able to wolf down three fish fries in the same amount, but we are not complaining. A fillet of Betki comes layered with a light and mild marinade of onion, ginger, garlic and green chillies, and is breaded with biscuit crumbs and deep fried for the best results. Served with piquant kasundi and crunchy onions. Bite into it and you will get the crunch of the fried layered and the soft, soft fish beneath. While the rest of the city is busy making fish dishes with the basas of the world, this Bengali joint keeps it classy.

Pair It With

A cup of hot lebu cha {lemon tea sprinkled with some rock salt} or an old fashioned cold coffee made with Nescafe.

#LBBTip

Beware. The fish fry is available only on a first come first serve. Available from lunch time onwards, you will have to make a beeline for it before they run out of it for the day.
