Authentic Mexican tacos with a slight twist of taste

Blue is the warmest colour

The Blue Tacos Fiesta at Sanchos features tacos made with Mexican blue corn {also known as hopi maize}. Blue corn apparently lends a sweeter and nuttier taste to the palate than regular corn, is also healthier {with a low glycemic index}.

What we chowed on

While you wait for those mysterious-sounding Blue Tacos, you could sip on on the refreshing Oriental Cooler, a slushy mocktail of lime juice and mint or the Watermelon Shirley Temple, served with a dash of Sprite. We started with the Spiced Barbequed Mushrooms+Grilled Onions stuffed in a blue taco {a dark, purplish shade of blue, actually}. Tasting subtler and crispier than its yellow counterpart, the light shell of the tacos let the piquant stuffing take center stage. The Arbol Char Grilled Chicken Tacos, juicy chicken marinated in arbol {a super-hot Mexican chili pepper} set our tongues on fire. We got a taste of tomatoes and dollops of sour cream in the mix, lending an interesting contrast of flavours and texture.

On a lighter note

For those with a more delicate palate {we actually mean those who can’t turn the heat up with spice}, we suggest the Beer-Battered Fish on Soft Beet Tacos {pink tacos, anyone?} with a layer of jalapeno mayo. We gladly made space for dessert and tucked into the Dulce de Leche Alfajor Tacos. The biscuity Alfajor Tacos had a generous filling of Cajeta, a delicious, thickened syrup made with sweetened condensed milk and was topped with whipped cream and glazed bananas.

So, we’re thinking…

On for the entire month, the Blue Tacos Fiesta offers some authentic Mexican fare and is a must-visit for those who take their tacos seriously.
