Ten-Second Takeaway
With features like real-time tracking of location and the estimated time of arrival of buses, BMTC's public transport service is all set to get an 'intelligent' makeover.
Hop Onboard
Very soon, long, tiresome waits for that direct bus to your workplace may well become a thing of the past. All thanks to Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation {BMTC}'s decision to incorporate Intelligent Transport System {ITS} into its functioning. In fact, it's the first transport utility in the country to adopt the system, we hear. Wondering what this means for you? The Passenger Information System {{PIS}, one of the core components of ITS {which will be in place by the end of this month} lets you track the particular bus in real time and even get details like the estimated time of arrival, time taken to reach your desired stop and the number of empty seats. LED screens across major bus stands and updates {plus real-time tracking} on the BMTC app are also part of the venture. Well, we can't wait for this to come into effect!
