We were mighty disappointed when the popular Bobby’s Dhaba in Ulsoor shut shop earlier this year. The Punjabi in us (we would like to think we are) even wept a little when we realised we can’t have any more of those buttery and heart attack inducing parathas. But luckily for us (and of course, for you), the dhaba has opened its doors again and this time it’s in the faraway land of Yeswanthpur. Located near Nagasandra Metro Station, the new dhaba is very much like the old one. Mr. Bobby who owns the dhaba, the cramped seating (they just have four tables), and of course, the paratha options including favourites such as aloo, onion, paneer and methi which they serve with heaps of fresh butter and home-made pickle.
Given the amazing cool weather the city has, you know this is your go-to for vegetarian home-cooked Punjabi food, which is also easy on the pocket as well. As the seating isn't elaborate, if you are going during lunch or dinner, be prepared to wait. While you are waiting, you could think of what curry you should order. Is it going to be dal makhani, or rajma masala or even good old kadhi chawal? Their Dal Makhani is a house special, creamy and sharply spiced before being finished with a tampering of green chillies, onions and tomatoes. You can also lap up their parathas with their special palak paneer that is buttery (like all their food) and packed with flavour. Oh, and there’s that lassi served in a big brass glass to wrap up your heavy-duty meal too. Well, we don’t mind making a trip to Yeswanthpur now, how about you?
